Summer learning Journey week 2 / 27th

Dear Ms Ardern

Animals should be free at the SPCA.  By free, I mean
instead of paying money.  Because sometimes people who
are poor want animals and they can’t afford to buy them.
Maybe you could ask the SPCA boss to have some pets free
for some people. I think there would be less animals in
the SPCA shelters if they were free.  Maybe if some were
cheaper if they couldn’t be completely free.

  1. Hi Hayley,

I think it is very kind of you to think about all the animals that need homes and have chosen this issue to write to Jacinda about. I can see where you are coming from with the idea to have pets free for those who can’t afford to buy them, but have you considered that perhaps if they can’t afford to buy a pet from the SPCA then perhaps they might also find it hard to afford all the necessary things their animal would need, for example; food, vaccinations, medicine, toys etc. Animals need kind and caring homes to go to. What do you think is important to have to make a suitable home for a pet? I wonder if there is another way Jacinda could help. I do like that you offered an alternative solution that instead of being free, they could be cheaper.

I can tell that animals are very close to your heart. Keep up the amazing work!
