Week 2, Day 3, Activity 2

Week 2, Day 3, Activity 2
Mae was a young woman that didn’t have any friends and
lived alone.  Her Mum and Dad passed away when she was
very little. She had a babysitter but the babysitter left
when she was 5 and she couldn’t afford anymore babysitters.  She had to
look after herself. She couldn’t afford too but she had to
find a way. She was only 6 years old. Through that time she
had to get smart because she couldn’t go to school because
she had no time.  She went to the library to read. An old
lady named Miss Oakly gave her a library card so she could
get smarter. She had an old wagon that her Mum and Dad
gave her to help her get places. She could carry her library
card and books with her in that.  Mae had to sell some of her
Mum and Dads old stuff to get money. People always
laughed at her because she went to shops alone. One day
she had enough money to go to school. So she went to
school and her teachers name was Miss Honey. Miss Honey
was a very nice teacher and then she was very good at stuff
once she was 13 years old.  She had to live with herself for
a long while bt she was very good at art, so she made a sign
saying ‘please adopt me’. Miss Honey saw the sign and
heard Mae talking about being alone for most of her life
and Miss Honey felt bad for her so she decided to adopt
her. Mae and Miss Honey got on really well and lived happily
ever after.

The End.

  1. Hello Hayley,

You have written a wonderful short story. Where did you get your inspiration for this story from?

I really like the part about her taking an old wagon to the library so she could carry all her books in it. Miss Honey sounds like a lovely teacher so I am glad that she eventually got adopted by her and that they lived happily ever after.

I really enjoyed reading this short story.

    Until next time…

  2. Hi Leisha
I got the idea for this story from the movie Matilda. The name Miss Honey was from Matilda and I really liked it. Its half like Matilda and half what I made up. I watched Matilda the movie a few weeks before xmas.

    1. Hi Hayley,

I thought it sounded a little bit familiar! :) I used to love the movie Matilda when I was younger. Did you know the movie was based on the book Matilda by Roald Dahl. I haven't read the book though. I wonder if it is exactly the same as the movie or if it is a bit different.

How did you think of the name Mae? Have you heard that name before? It is a really lovely name.
