Week 3, Day 3, Activity 2

Week 3, Day 3, Activity 2

I was really surprised how they have made so many of the
hands.  I learn’t that it was for free. I thought they would
cost money but they don’t.  I think it was really brave of
them to use the hands and not to be scared of the hand and
how it moves.  I liked how they could have different colours
and not just white ones. My favourite was the purple one.
I also learn’t that they are waterproof which is cool because
you can swim with it and don’t need to take it off.

Week 2, Day 5, Activity 3

Week 2, Day 5, Activity 3

The person I chose was Jane Fonda.
She was an actress in movies and tv programmes.  She has 3
kids and one of them was adopted. She has been married 3
times!

She made exercise videos and she also was an activist
against the war.  She didn’t like Americans going to war.
She would have helped other people who didn’t agree with
the war to complain to the government about it.

Week 2, Day 5, Activity 2

Week 2, Day 5, Activity 2

My Random Act of Kindness that I did was I gave away some
of my clothes and toys to a refugee family.  Some of the
clothes I really liked still but I had grown out of. It made
me a little bit sad to give them up but they needed it more
than I do because I have lots of clothes and they don’t.
They felt really happy and they loved the scooters. They
played around a whole heap of times. I was thinking, next
time I see them I might take up one of our other scooters
so they can play with their new friends with them.

Week 2, Day 5, Activity 1

Week 2, Day 5, Activity 1

For this I was supposed to do a video but I
couldn’t work out how to do it so I’m just
listing my ideas.  I put an extra one in
instead of a video.

5 things we could do to help the people
affected by the Australian fires.
Raise money by having a bake sale.
Giving them all my toys I don’t want anymore.
I could give them a tiny home that I could
make.
Making some nice cards to cheer them up.
We could invite them to stay at our house
for a holiday.
I could send them some food.

Week 2, Day 4, Activity 3

Week 2, Day 4, Activity 3

I picked my Mum as a role model because she is a really good role
model to everybody even if they are another Mum or Dad.  Her
wisdom to me for this was
‘Always stay Humble and Kind’
This is actually originally from a song that we all love and it means a
lot to us.

Week 2 Day 4, Activity 2

Week 2 Day 4, Activity 2

I chose the Inuit People from Canada and the Aboriginal
People from Australia.

2 facts about Inuit People are they eat seals and caribou
and they live in really really cold places in Canada.

2 facts about Aboriginal People are they are all related to
each other back to the very first Aboriginal people and they
were treated really badly by the white people when they
moved to Australia.

Week 2, Day 4, Activity 1

Week 2, Day 4, Activity 1

A Tree comes from one seed but bears many
fruit

Week 2, Day 3, Activity 3

Week 2, Day 3, Activity 3

The book I am recommending is the Wonky Donkey. I picked
the Wonky Donkey as it is a good book for kids that are
preschoolers.  The one that I got has a CD in it. Not all of
them have the CD in. The CD reads the book for you. The
Wonky Donkey book is really good and I loved reading it.
We still have it at home. It has a lot of rhyming and is very
catchy.

Week 2, Day 3, Activity 2

Week 2, Day 3, Activity 2
Mae was a young woman that didn’t have any friends and
lived alone.  Her Mum and Dad passed away when she was
very little. She had a babysitter but the babysitter left
when she was 5 and she couldn’t afford anymore babysitters.  She had to
look after herself. She couldn’t afford too but she had to
find a way. She was only 6 years old. Through that time she
had to get smart because she couldn’t go to school because
she had no time.  She went to the library to read. An old
lady named Miss Oakly gave her a library card so she could
get smarter. She had an old wagon that her Mum and Dad
gave her to help her get places. She could carry her library
card and books with her in that.  Mae had to sell some of her
Mum and Dads old stuff to get money. People always
laughed at her because she went to shops alone. One day
she had enough money to go to school. So she went to
school and her teachers name was Miss Honey. Miss Honey
was a very nice teacher and then she was very good at stuff
once she was 13 years old.  She had to live with herself for
a long while bt she was very good at art, so she made a sign
saying ‘please adopt me’. Miss Honey saw the sign and
heard Mae talking about being alone for most of her life
and Miss Honey felt bad for her so she decided to adopt
her. Mae and Miss Honey got on really well and lived happily
ever after.

The End.

Week 2, Day 3, Activity 1

Week 2, Day 3, Activity 1
I would choose Jacinda Ardern to go on the $10 Note.
I think she has tried really hard to get things done since
she has become Prime Minister.  I also think she should be
on it because she shows great respect for people. It’s
pretty awesome that she is a girl Prime Minister and she is
really nice to people.  If someone gives her an idea she can
sometimes say yes and so it’s not just her ideas for how to
run our country.

Week 2, Day 2, Activity 3

Week 2, Day 2, Activity 3
The problem that she faced was that the white kids had to sit at the front and the brown kids to the back of the bus.  One day she told herself she was sick of sitting at the back so she sat at the front. The driver was telling her to move but she refused.  The driver had her arrested. Then, once she got out of jail, people started to refuse to go on the bus because of that and then the driver got angry.

So the Prime Minister changed the law so now any kids can sit wherever they want.

Week 2, Day 2, Activity 2

Week 2, Day 2, Activity 2

I learn’t about the group of students in Australia that were
trying to change climate change.
I learn’t it’s not ok to ignore climate change.
I learn’t that we can change the world if we change how we
act.

We don’t use glad wrap in our lunchboxes, we use beeswax
wraps that we can reuse and this helps the environment.

Week 2, Day 2, Activity 1

Week 2, Day 2, Activity 1

I am disappointed in myself for being in prison. I think that I shouldn’t be because I am trying to change
the world for white and brown people and that is a good thing.  I think that nobody should be treated like
that. Being in prison won’t teach me a lesson because I want to get out and be the President and
change the world and I won’t stop until I am President.  I will try to be President for as long as I can.
Maybe one day I will change the world.

Week 1, Day 5, Activity 2

Week 1, Day 5, Activity 2

Yusra is a girl from Syria and she is a really good swimmer.  She was brave because she saved 20
people on a small boat with her sister.  The boat broke down and so she swam the boat to safety with her
sister and some others.  Once she got to Germany she practised swimming a bit more and she entered
the Olympics and entered the swimming race.  She is a refugee now. A refugee is someone who leaves
their country and only takes maybe just one thing with them and the clothes that they are wearing.  They
have to wait for people to give them stuff like clothes and a place to live.

Yusra was really brave and I think it is cool that she wants people’s perception to be better about her
and all refugees.  I would want to ask her if she won her Olympics medal?

Week 1, Day 4, Activity 1

Week 1, Day 4, Activity 1

Oops I missed this activity earlier.

I watched the video on Serena Williams and I learn’t that Serena was born 26th September 1981.
That means that she is 38 years old.
She has won lots of gold medals at the Olympics and lots of tournaments.
I didn’t realise how many sisters she had!  Serena has 4 sisters.

I want to ask if she has kids and if they play tennis?

FINAL ACTIVITY!!!

I’m really excited to be finishing all the activities.  I have
done a happy dance around my lounge!
My favourite activity is the Inspirational quote.  I really
liked this because I loved the beautiful pictures of the
dancers.  I like to dance and I have that quote in my room
on my wall.
The activity I didn’t really like was the one with the two
pilots.  It was a little bit hard for me and I thought maybe
that one could be a bit easier for the year 3-5.
The first thing I learn’t was about Oprah Winfrey and the
good things that she does.  I enjoyed thinking about what
I want to do when I’m older.
I learn’t the awesome hip hop group is lead by a
New Zealander and that she has won lots of awards and
danced with lots of famous people because she practices
lots.
I also learn’t to be patient when I doing this sort of thing.
Sometimes I tried to rush and got frustrated. This week
I have focused on it better and got heaps done.
Maybe next time it would be good to have a little less
activities so we can enjoy our school holidays because we
have worked really hard and had a gigantic year at school.

Summer learning journey week 4/20th

This is my Inspirational quote.  I chose this one because I love
to dance and it’s a really nice photo.

Summer Learning Journey wk4/20th

I have designed my Tapa cloth with weather because it
seems like lately our weather has been the most important
thing where we live.  My design means that the Sun and the
Clouds are friends and the people don’t notice that the
cloud is the Sun’s friend. The people need the sun and the
rain because if we didn’t have the clouds and sun we
wouldn't be able to survive because the clouds make rain
and that gives the trees a drink of water and we need the
trees to give us oxygen to breathe.  Sometimes we will need
the clouds because if we didn’t the sun might get to hot for
us and we will get burn’t a lot which will annoy us a lot.

I would repeat my pattern of Sun and Cloud over and over
to create my Tapa Cloth.

Summer learning Journey week 4 / 20th

I could not get the video to play so we have hopefully
watched the right one on Mums phone.
I loved this dance.  I loved how the music was suited to the
hip hop dance.  The men's costumes were really cool
because it blended in with the black background.  One of
the guys had pink hair and it looked really cool and matched
their costumes. All the dances were really in time with each
other and the music which looked great.  I don’t know if
they are not supposed to have a smile on some of the time
because when I dance I have to smile all the time for the
judges. I didn’t like it that they weren’t smiling too much.
I loved how the choreography had some of the dancers
going one way and some going the other, it looked really
cool. They had really strong arms in their dance which is
important. My arms are a bit wonky so when I have strong
arms they are a bit double jointed and bend too far.
Everything else I loved about it.

Summer learning Journey week / 20th

These are my two images I picked.  They are both animals.
One of the animals in the pictures can fly and one of them
can’t.  One of them, the wolves looks kind of cartoonish and
the butterfly looks like it is real. I picked the wolves
because it looks cute.  I picked the butterfly image because
I love butterflies and it is really realistic. It’s so hard to
make paintings like that look real.  On the wolves heads
there are smaller wolf head images inside it and it took me
a while to realise it. I would love to see these in my home
town becuase there is not much art work around.  It would
make town look a little bit better but it might be hard to
draw as its always raining. It might wash off when it rains
so they might have to use something to make it stay on.

Summer learning Journey week 4 / 19th

I think Twenty-Seven Names is a good name for their
clothing.  I’m not really sure why I like it but it’s kind of
short and that makes it easy to remember.  I like that the
name is about the people that made the clothes at the start.

I really liked their clothes on the website.  I had a dress
very similar but it shrunk in the wash.

Summer learning Journey week 4 / 19th

I have done the 20 hour famine before.  It was a couple of
years ago. I gave up eating food so I could only drink and
eat hard boiled lollies.  I found it hard not to eat because
I was so used to eating and I wasn’t used to eating the hard
boiled lollies.  Just drinking was a little bit hard for me as
well. I thought maybe it was way more hard for the other
people that we are raising money for because they don’t
have much food everyday.  Last year in 2019 I couldn’t do
it because we were doing something. This year I might do
it again. I might still do the 20 hour because the 40 hour
might be a bit hard for me.

Summer learning Journey week 4 / 19th

My movie is about Katie and her friends and they are living on a
big boat on the ocean.  They get lost at sea on their boat and
there are dolphins that show them the way back home.  Some
other bad people arrive and catch the dolphins and take them
away so Katie and her friends don’t know how to find their way
home!  Spongebob pops up from below the sea and helps Katie
and her friends when the boat starts sinking. Spongebob
shows the girls the way home because he knows the way home
to Bikini Bottom.  Once you are there the girls can see their
home, New York and make it there themselves.

Summer learning Journey week 4 / 19th

I don’t know what I want to do when I leave school, but I
would like to earn a lot of money because I like to shop.

Sometimes I like to think I might work as a hairdresser or
maybe in the SPCA.  I really like to play with animals so the
SPCA would be fun but Mum says it is mostly voluntary so I
wouldn’t get paid.  I like clothes so my sister said I should
work for Calvin Klein but I don’t really know who that is. I
would like to work at the supermarket because I like the
people that are at the counter when we go shopping.  They
are really nice to us. The supermarket has great sales.
Through the years as I get older they might need more help
and I could get a job there.

Summer learning Journey week 4 / 17th

My role model is my teacher at school.  He shows me the
behaviour that you are supposed to be doing and the behaviour
that you are not.  He helps me with my spelling tests and if I get
a word wrong he helps me figure it out. Sometimes when he
helps me with my spelling he helps me find the words that are
inside of it.  He helps me a lot with my maths equations and
shows me the difference with all the equations signs like groups
of and subtraction. He has a really funny way in helping me and
makes me feel good about my learning.

Summer learning Journey week 4 / 17th

This is my Treehouse Book cover that I made.

Summer learning Journey week 4 / 17th

BTS
I find it hard that only one speaks English because then I can’t
understand the others when they are answering the questions.
I really liked their hair because they have changed the colours
of it and they all have different coloured hair.
I liked their music because it is good music to dance too.
I have only heard their music once before. I think they are
good dances on stage.  They all dance at the same time and
are in sync with each other and the music. At my dance we
have to stay in time with each other and I know this is hard to
do.

Summer learning Journey week 4 / 17th

My favourite singers are Jody Direen and Carrie Underwood.
I really like country music and these are two country singers.
Some of their songs I like are…
Gimme the Beat
Ghosts on the Stereo
Unbroken
Dirt Rich
Backsliding
Spinning Bottles
Drinking Alone
Cry Pretty
The Bullet
Something about Summertime
One plus One
Spiffire
Bad Girl
All nighter

Carrie Underwood
Jody Direen

I like heaps of others as well, but these are my favourite.  Jody
Direen is from New Zealand and I have seen her singing in real
life.
